Hi,
I use Yahoo! Mail Plus and I’ve run into a problem when seraching (example: for a sender’s email) just within the last few weeks. Prior to that time, a serach would return all emails from (example) john.doe – no matter how far back in time. Recently, it only returns the last 3-6 matching emails or so.
I think part of the problem is size of my mailbox – I’ve done a lousy job of managing it (lots of marketing emails, 1x or 2x per week, from hotels, airlines, WSJ, active.com, and lots of other services marketers.) I’m ging to clean it up – but it may take me a weekend day as has reached 16k+ emails over 3 years.
Does anyone have an idea of what size (# of emails) – threshold – I have to get below in order for searches to once again return full results sets? (Btw, not seraching for content, just senders ususally).
Thanks very much for any ideas – don’t know what changed unless inbox finally passed some limit.

Hi, David. I’ve experienced the same problem myself. When searching, I cannot get any e-mails dated more recently than 25th March 2008. I’ve checked earlier dates than this, using the specific search of looking for e-mails of a specified date: here there is some variance eg e-mails in my inbox dated March 23rd = 11, search results = 2! You may want to carry out similar checks yourself. I’ve reported the problem to customer support, and recommend you do the same. Best wishes, Chris.
Further to the above, when I reported the problem, the helpdesk advised my ‘Billing Status’ was closed – even though BT collect money from me by DD! As a result, they would not handle my reported problem. I am now querying my billing status – if it is closed then open it (may be the cause of the search problems I am experiencing), or if the helpdesk person was looking at the wrong info, then set him right. I’ll update you with outcome, but still reconmmend you report the problem yourself. One other thing, the helpdesk advised that the number of e-mails you hold in your inbox should not have an impact on the search!
Despite getting nowhere with the BT (UN)Helpdesk, I see that the problem has corrected itself today (18th July)- my search extracts appear to be ok – please check out yours to ensure normality resumed. Best, Chris
