I want to sell something, but the challenge is seeing if there is even a market for that kind of item. I don’t want to list it on eBay and pay all the fees before finding out if there will be people who would want to buy it. Do anyone know of any sites that are sort of like the reverse of the typical classified ad where people list items they are looking for? I could then email then with a link to my eBay item.

Of course, they are called classifieds. One that I would recommend is Craigslist.
Of course, it’s free and you can sell worldwide or locally. The only catch is most people prefer dealing face to face locally and maybe a small percentage of people who make a commitment but never show up.

Here is a free for local sales site like a classified. I do not know of a I want this site.

Almost every area of the country now has a
craigslist. You can post free ads to buy/sell/barter/
personals/travel/rant rave/blog. Almost, whatever
you want. You get great local deals. I suggest
you google your county–and craigslist. for example, sacramentocraigslist. they also have links
to all nationwide lists.
