That was the question I kept asking me myself. But after some extensive research, it always come to, there is no such thing as a free lunch.
Even this site that does provide Free E-mail Marketing, http://itshrunk.com/e183e0 , and even provide you with a Free start-up list, only doing so because they make money if they help you make money.
So guess what? I partnered with them. Keyword, partnership.

Really it depends on the level of service you are after. I use a free autoresponder service thru Get Response. They offer a free service as well as a paid service. You can find them here.
If all you need is a mailing list then this is a free solution that is very robust and full of features.
